Umar Muhammad is a veterinary doctor and a public servant. He graduated from the Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto in 2010 and was inducted into the Veterinary Council of Nigeria in 2011.

He worked as the Chief Veterinary Surgeon in Akko Veterinary Clinic Gombe in 2012 and Head of Inspection Unit Gusau Modern Abattior Zamfara State.

He has also held other positions such as the INEC Presiding Officer Sabon Gari Polling Unit in the 2007 elections and Election Observer in Alero Local Government Area Kebbi State in the 2011 Elections.
